The Cranio Helmet costs £2000 and is fitted by having a 3D scan done of your baby's head. Should your baby outgrow the Cranio helmet before treatment is completed then a second helmet will be provided free of charge. The Cranio Helmet will only be considered for baby's under one year of age. Fitting and all further appointments take place in London. Dr Blecher also has his own website which explains all about plagiocephaly and the Cranio Helmet.

Dr Blecher began his UK work with a research project at Kings College Hospital in London before taking up a private practice. He also practices privately in Germany and has a dental/maxillofacial research/surgical position at the University of Giessen. Dr Blecher has treated babies with plagiocephaly for 12 years.
The STARband™ Cranial Remoulding Orthosis is available from two clinics in the UK. Steeper clinic located in Leeds and Vitality in Motion Clinic in Cardiff. Both Clinics offer a free no obligation assessment and scan to determine the level of severity of your baby’s head shape.
Having treated almost 125,000 babies globally with flat head syndrome, the STARband™ helmet has been available in the UK since 2003. It is regulated by the FDA as a class II medical product, subjecting its manufacture and use to more stringent control than most of the other orthotic devices available, both at source and within the UK. The STARband™ and STARscanner™ are also CE Mark regulated as custom made orthotic products.
The STARscanner™ is used to scan the infant’s head, the scanner utilizes the 3-D surface of the infant’s head to allow the clinician to collect and compare head shape information during the treatment process, the benefits of the scanner include:

The STARscanner™ has been classified and certified as a Class 1 laser scanning devise. Class 1 lasers are low-power lasers and are safe from all potential hazards.
If your baby requires a STARband™ the custom made helmet is manufactured from an accurate scan of the infant’s head to obtain the optimum fit and function. The rigid outer shell maintains the structural integrity of the design and is lined with closed cell foam, this is to allow the clinician to modify channeling growth and providing a pathway for your infant’s head to grow to a more symmetrical shape. It offers a simple and direct solution to the treatment of deformational plagiocephaly and brachycephaly, and scaphocephaly.
The full STARband™ treatment is £1950 and is currently available in Leeds and Cardiff. Both teams comprise extremely experienced Clinicians having worked in both the NHS and private sector and have extensive knowledge in all aspects of orthotic management and are registered with the Health Professional Council.
